Mirna Chinchilla arrived in the United States from Honduras at 17, with one bag of clothing, no family, no money, speaking only Spanish. She is currently living in Connecticut where, "I have the opportunity to focus on myself as a person and to give back to the community."
Mirna has been helping the Danbury area community. At local churches she teaches ESL (English as second language) and regularly volunteers for tasks to improve other's education. Today she is living her life as an artist.
Mirna discovered her passion for the art at a tender age and her art is appreciated by everyone alike. Mirna is the oldest of seven children. She started working in Honduras at an early age to support her family.
She did not have the opportunity to nurture her artistic talent early, though, she found ways to be creative. She would create mother's and father's day cards as well as birthday cards for her younger siblings and their neighbors to give to their parents. Mirna was heavily influenced by a now deceased world reknowned artist who would surely be proud of her efforts. She works on oils and enjoys working on mixed mediums. Her desire to capture nature is unsurpassed.
